History of Cashiers Lake

After hours of research, we believe the headwaters of the Chattooga River were dammed up to form Cashiers Lake in the mid-1930s. We found various maps dated from the late 1800’s up to 1947 and beyond. For some reason, there is a gap in mapping of the Cashiers area in the 1930s.
