Cashiers Lake 1946
Following extensive research, it appears that the headwaters of the Chattooga River underwent damming late in 1938 / early 1939, resulting in the creation of Cashiers Lake.
Our investigation involved the examination of numerous maps spanning from the late 1800s to 1947 and beyond. Interestingly, there exists a gap in the mapping of the Cashiers area during the 1930s. We were able to find one dated 1938 which does not show Cashiers Lake. The earliest map depicting Cashiers Lake that we could find is dated 1946.
Given the story shared below, Cashiers Lake had to be created in 1938/1939.
